MLA, HBEM, OALA (Associate), Landscape Designer
Allison graduated from the University of Guelph with a Masters in Landscape Architecture. While her undergraduate degree focused on environmental management, forestry, and ecology; she worked as a GIS consultant for three years before starting her masters. It was during her work there she started working with drones on ice road improvement studies in Northern Ontario.
Her passion for drones in landscape architecture has guided her thesis research to develop standards using the technology for landscape architects. Her thesis focused on the use of drones to supplement Visual Impact Assessments, which she hopes to bring to this role. She is honored to be given the opportunity to present her project at the Council of Educators in Landscape Architecture (CELA) Conference in March 2023 in San Antonio, TX.
Allison thoroughly enjoyed her time at the University of Guelph, where she not only was a student, but a Teaching Assistant to the BLA program where she got to provide her insights and passion to other students. She also led AutoCAD workshops for the incoming MLA class and served as a mentor to new students. Her professors inspired her to challenge herself, from attention to details, to effects on a regional scale, to become a better designer.
She currently sits on the OALA Council as the 2022-2023 student representative for the University of Guelph. She is looking forward to becoming a licensed Landscape Architect with the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA) and being mentored on holistic design and interacting positively with the environment and community. Her passion for creativity, nature and community will drive her in her work, as well as her belief of uniting people and nature through design.
Outside of the office, Allison loves being outdoors, especially hiking, camping, and barbequing. She also enjoys cooking, baking and music, both listening and creating. She is also an avid animal lover, equestrian, and values time with her friends and family.
