Brad Smith

Brad has a passion for design and carries a fresh, forward-thinking, enthusiastic energy to every project. Always hungering for new ideas, Brad is driven by the intimate relationship to memories of place, emotional connection to environments, and the understanding of how people interact with the landscape. He constantly blends sustainable values with core principles of landscape architecture to balance innovation and practicality with every project. A natural risk taker, Brad always knows how far to push the envelope and has been involved in numerous design and planning projects throughout Ontario, Alberta, and western Canada. His clients have included municipal, provincial, and federal government, Canada’s National Capital Commission, conservation authorities, non-profit organizations, land developers, and private industry.

As a Senior Landscape Architect at Seferian Design Group, Brad is a full member of the Ontario Association of Landscape Architects (OALA), Canadian Society of Landscape Architects (CSLA), and the American Society of Landscape Architects (ASLA). Brad is passionate about recreational planning and ecological design and how the synergy between them can transform communities, enhance the environment, and inspire stewardship. Brad strongly believes that it is both the opportunity and responsibility of landscape architects to give back to their communities and educate on design and the profession. He is passionate about giving back to the Burlington community. Brad is currently a Board Member for the Burlington Downtown Business Association (BDBA), Member of Mayor Rick Goldring’s Millennial Advisory Committee, and Member of the Joseph Brant Hospital Foundation’s Young Professional Committee. Brad was a member of the Urban Design Peer Review Panel for the City of London in 2014. He also volunteers his time for various community initiatives throughout Burlington (public art juries, community events, active transportation initiatives) and the Bruce Trail Conservancy.

Away from the office Brad enjoys cycling, camping, hiking, and skiing. Growing up on the shores of the Bruce Peninsula has fuelled Brad with a passion for adventure and a love for the outdoors!
