Mathijs de Graaf

BLA (Candidate), Junior Landscape Designer

Mathijs de Graaf

Mathijs is a third-year student at the University of Guelph, pursuing a Bachelor of Landscape Architecture. Between semesters, Mathijs has spent the past few summers working in greenkeeping and regional planning. This hands-on experience has given him a deeper understanding of landscapes and planning development. He has a prolonged interest in ecology and keeps this in mind when approaching design challenges. After graduation, he is excited to pursue a career as a licensed landscape architect under the OALA. Mathijs has a deep appreciation for land stewardship. He believes that design has the ability to connect with the cognitive and ergonomic aspects of the mind to allow people to develop a deeper understanding and appreciation for the natural world around them. Mathijs is currently leading the planning committee for the 2025 LABASH conference, hosted by the University of Guelph. His role requires the planning and oversight of conference events to make sure attendees get the most out of their visit to Guelph.
