We are proud to be working alongside Memme Infrastructure Contractors, Dynex Construction, Accardi Engineering Group, Montrose Environmental, and Jewell Engineering as part of the multidisciplinary design and implementation team for this ambitious project for the City of Vaughan.
The Black Creek plays a vital role in enhancing ecological resilience, community connectivity, and public life along one of Vaughan’s most important urban corridors.
Spanning 37 acres along the Black Creek corridor, this transformative project will reimagine Edgeley Pond and Park and the adjacent creek channel between Highway 7 and Highway 407, turning underutilized infrastructure into a vibrant, connected landscape rooted in ecology, culture, and community.
Building on the area’s unique character and design language, the project aspires to create a seamless, immersive experience for residents and visitors alike. At SDG, we’re proud to contribute to a space that thoughtfully weaves together ecological function, inclusive community use, and meaningful cultural storytelling.
Key goals of the project include:
• Inclusive public spaces with play areas, rest zones, and accessible paths
• A pedestrian bridge with lookouts to enhance connection and views
• Consistent paving, lighting, furnishings, and finishes
• Creek rehabilitation with native, resilient plantings
• Layered planting for ecological and visual richness
• Signature design elements to unify the public realm
• Interpretive features, public art, and wayfinding celebrating cultural and Indigenous narratives
The Black Creek Renewal Project is envisioned as a dynamic landscape where nature, community, and culture converge. We’re honoured to help shape this meaningful public space and look forward to seeing its lasting impact as Vaughan continues to grow.
With a phased approach to 2030, this is just the beginning, stay tuned as this bold vision takes shape!
