Appleby Creek

Burlington, Ontario

Description

Seferian Design Group was retained to provide design, contract management, and vegetation monitoring for the Appleby Creek Realignment, a new riparian corridor through the Namasco Limited property in Burlington. Seferian Design completed a comprehensive landscape compensation plan that included extensive plantings of native trees, shrubs, and live willow stakes. The landscape also included terraseeding of native grasses and wildflowers.

The landscape compensation plans included techniques to mitigate impacts, and obtain the Fisheries permit related to the Harmful Alteration Disruption or Destruction (HADD) of Fish Habitat. In areas where bank erosion was evident, various bioengineering techniques were used to increase stabilization and reduce undercutting. Strategic plantings were provided to specifically improve aquatic habitat conditions and contribute to improved aquatic productivity.
