Kay Drage Park Functional Trail Design Plan

Hamilton, Ontario

Description

Seferian Design Group was retained in 2015 by the City of Hamilton to provide the functional design for the Kay Drage Park trail in west Hamilton. The 500m trail originates at the Cathedral of the Basilica of Christ the King and routes north through Cathedral Park and Kay Drage Park.

The trail was design to avoid sensitive vegetation and included trail head signage and directional signage. The stonedust trail was also used to eradicate an increasing homelessness population that occurred north of the cathedral on cathedral lands. The trail was also included within the Hamilton Trails Master Plan implementation plan and is an example of cost-sharing between the City, Cathedral, and Nicholas Mancini Centre.
