Waterloo Park West Water Play

Waterloo, Ontario

Description

The City of Waterloo retained Seferian Design Group to prepare a tender-ready plan package, contract administration and inspection services for a new water play area in Waterloo Park. Waterloo Park is approximately 47 hectares in size, located in the centre of the City and is often referred to as the “Jewel of the City”. The Lions Lagoon splash pad facility closed with plans to convert the area into a destination with amenities for a variety of ages throughout the year. The area of the park where the new water play area will be built is on the west side of the park within the Main Entry to Waterloo Park, on underutilized lands that exist between the skate park and the ball diamonds to be open for June 2020.

SDG’s goal was to create a space that is intrinsically intertwined with the needs, wants and movements of daily community life. Waterloo Park West Water Play will be the city’s premier water adventure space that is visually and physically integrated into the urban fabric of Waterloo park. The unique vision and perspective on water play will inspire curiosity and exploration for all visitors, with children as the focus. This water journey will become a destination within the city and provide a variety of experiences for all.
